Expressive Arts and Design - 3 and 4 year old children Draw with increasing complexity and detail, such as representing a face with a circle and including details. Show different emotions in their drawings and paintings, like happiness, sadness, fear etc. Use drawing to represent ideas like movement or loud noises. |

Expressive Arts and Design - Children in reception. Explore, use and refine a variety of artistic effects to express their ideas and feelings. Return to and build on their previous learning, refining ideas and developing their ability to represent them. (ASSESSMENT) Create collaboratively, sharing ideas, resources and skills. The areas of the Statutory Framework for the EYFS are met through both discrete lessons as well as ongoing provision. The children access many different resources such as scissors, paint, crayons, pencils within the different areas. They are able to create pieces of art which develop their creativity and technique as well as fine and gross motor skills. Children in EYFS are taught basic skills including holding equipment correctly and how to draw basic shapes, objects and people. Staff ensure there is a variety of resources available to them and help to develop their imaginations. Activities linked to the whole school topic are used to inspire the children to be creative as well as links to the work of artists throughout the academic year. (KS1) Years 1 and 2

Here are some photos of our artwork taken in Spring 2024. Just look at the amazing progress we make during our lessons at Driffield Northfield Infant School.
- The pictures of the 3 bears are done by Foundation children and the pictures of Paddington Bear are done a year later in year 1, we used pictures to help us and also a YouTube video. Below is the link to the video we watched to help us follow step by step instructions on how to draw Paddington Bear. This gives us lots of ideas on how to start our picture and where to add detail.
- The Chinese blossom was done by Foundation children using water colour paints and the observational drawing of the beautiful primulas were done by year 2 children.
- Kipper was done by year 1, following on from the Matisse group work Foundation complete, using our discussion skills and talking about our ideas.
- Year 2 created the Kandinsky Elmer art, again following on from the Elmer work done in year 1 when we think about Elmer day and how we are all unique.
- Year 2 created the fire of London art work using all their knowledge of brush strokes and the work they do on The Great Fire of London.
